Welcome to the Main Stage
The Financial Conduct Authority has enacted the most significant reforms in a generation for the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market.
These changes make the listing rules simpler and more flexible for companies that want to join the Exchange, and for those who are already part of our market. They will allow companies to act more quickly to raise the capital that they need to drive growth and innovation. All while giving investors the information that they need to make the right investment decisions.

Benefits of the new Main Market
Simplified rules and added flexibility
At the heart of the new Main Market is a single listing category for equity shares in commercial companies replacing the existing standard and premium listing segments to make entry to the market more straightforward and understandable.
A disclosure-based approach with added flexibility. Giving companies more flexibility and autonomy to run their businesses.
Simpler requirements join the market as a public company. The removal of certain eligibility requirements for historical financial information, and working capital statements.
A more flexible approach to dual-class structures. At admission, shareholders and founders can retain voting control over a company after it goes public.
Enabling companies to pursue M&A more confidently. Giving companies more flexibility and autonomy to run their businesses.
Opportunities on the secondary listings segment for international companies. Making it easier to list shares from overseas and potentially raise further finance as a public company.
Attracting more companies through significant market reforms. As more companies choose to grow on the UK Main Market, investors will benefit from a more diverse choice of investment opportunities.
