From the pioneers who are leading the green economy to the more carbon-intensive industry sectors making the transition to lower-carbon operating models, London Stock Exchange is committed to supporting issuers with access to sustainable finance products and services across a range of asset classes.
As a convener of markets, we also help issuers understand the needs of sustainability-focused investors and how best to meet their growing expectations for decision-useful, best practice ESG and climate-related disclosure.
Green Economy Mark
Our Green Economy Mark recognises London-listed companies and funds with 50% or more of their revenues derived from products and services that contribute to the global green economy. It helps to increase the visibility of issuers on London’s markets that are contributing to achieving positive environmental objectives. More than 100 companies and funds with a combined market cap of £140bn have received the Mark since its launch in 2019.
Sustainable Bond Market (SBM)
London Stock Exchange’s SBM allows issuers of qualifying sustainable debt finance instruments to display bonds on the platform, providing access to the largest, most sophisticated and long-term oriented investor base for sustainable debt finance. To date, more than 300 bonds have been admitted, raising £70bn+, from issuers in 65 countries and bonds in 17 currencies.
Through our Issuer Services platform, London-listed companies can access the ESG data and scores of Refinitiv, one of the industry’s most comprehensive ESG databases covering 10,000 companies across 76 countries including more than 300 different ESG metrics. Companies can use the data to gain a global view of ESG performance in their sector and benchmark against industry peers, generating greater levels of awareness for best practice ESG data used by investors in their capital allocation decisions.
TCFD model guidance
We encourage issuers to report against the Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) standards, to enable issuers to produce consistent, comparable and reliable global climate data. Working with the UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (UN SSE), LSEG supported the launch of model climate reporting guidance aimed at making markets climate resilient and will launch its own guidance later this year.
ESG reporting guidance
We provide all equity, fund and debt issuers with information and tools to understand and implement effective, decision-useful ESG disclosures that reflect investor needs and regulatory requirements.
