The top five ESG investment themes shaping our future

Many people are talking about the ‘new normal’, post-COVID-19 world. It’s becoming clear that some aspects of how we live may well change forever. The questions for ESG (environmental, social and governance) investors are, what will be important to people and where will innovation come from to meet their evolving needs?

In this article, we take a deep dive into five ESG themes we think are set to underpin our changing world, and which therefore, might offer sustainable and responsible opportunities for investors. They include cyber security, oncology, electrification (battery technology), water and waste. Some of these themes have come into focus because of COVID-19 while others were already in motion.

We believe the opportunities for these ESG sustainable investing themes are potentially enormous and could be incredibly important for several years to come. While acknowledging the many challenges we may yet have to overcome, there are many reasons why the future can continue to be viewed with optimism.
