In its early years Capital Gearing Trust invested entirely in investment trust securities. Over recent decades, CGT has pioneered a multi asset approach to investing expanding its focus to include government bonds, corporate bonds and a broad range of collective funds. CGT is managed with an unconstrained approach and has two core objectives: to preserve capital and to grow shareholders’ real wealth over the long term. The objective is to provide consistently positive, total returns regardless of economic environments.

Capital Gearing Trust is dedicated to forging a strong partnership with its shareholders. CGT has grown the ongoing costs have fallen dramatically. In addition to its competitive fees and strong track record, a significant factor driving the trust’s growth has been the adoption of the ‘discount control policy,’ introduced by the board of Capital Gearing Trust in 2016. This policy aims to protect shareholders by ensuring that, under normal market conditions, the share price closely aligns with the underlying net asset value (NAV) of CGT. By minimizing the divergence between the share price and NAV, the policy helps to provide shareholders with fair value for their investments, reducing the risk of their shares trading at a significant discount to the actual worth of the Capital Gearing Trust’s assets.
