Also at the ceremony was Dawn Airey (CBE), Chancellor of Edge Hill University and Chair of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, who afterwards facilitated a conversation with the SAYes co-founders, calling attention to the importance of mentorship in the lives of young people.

The evening brought together leaders from across the business, finance and the non-profit sectors for a conversation on mentorship, leadership, and creating opportunities for the next generation.

During the discussion, Gillian Anderson and Michelle Potter reflected on founding SAYes Mentoring nearly two decades ago and the growth of the organisation into an international mentorship community. Through its structured e-mentorship programmes, SAYes connects underserved young people in the UK and South Africa with positive adult role models from around the world, who help them build confidence, independence and pathways to opportunity.

Alongside the discussion of SAYes’ work, Dawn Airey also spoke with Gillian Anderson about her career as an actress and author, as well as her broader humanitarian and advocacy work.
