LSEG celebrates CSL’s Mindful Exclusion Governance Report

LSEG was delighted to host the Centre for Synchronous Leadership for an evening focused on the next chapter of the Mindful Exclusion Governance Report.

Created by CSL, the report explores how boards and executive committees make decisions – and how their “boardroom bubbles” shape what gets seen, heard, prioritised and excluded. Previous reports examined this through three lenses: the boardroom agenda, boardroom dynamics and boardroom composition.

The event, “We Can Do This: Guidelines for Leading in a World without Answers,” brought together senior leaders from inside and beyond the boardroom to explore how leadership, governance and decision-making need to evolve in response to AI, geopolitical volatility and climate change.

Justine Lutterodt, Founder and CEO of CSL, C-suite coach and author of the Mindful Exclusion Governance Report, shared highlights from CSL’s latest survey of Company Secretaries, NEDs and C-suite leaders:

  • The state of boardroom decision making – in terms of prioritisation, collaboration, evaluation and what's changed since 2022
  • The impact of the megatrends – how Boards & ExCos are responding to geopolitics, artificial intelligence, climate change
  • Emerging best practice – what sets apart organisations that are performing better in the midst of current challenges

She was joined by an esteemed panel of business leaders who helped bring these insights to life:

The discussion also drew on insights from Agents of Change, CSL’s global leadership initiative informed by earlier Mindful Exclusion research. Through roundtables, advisory conversations and global gatherings, Agents of Change has explored how leaders at the coalface of technology, sustainability, geopolitics, culture and governance can help organisations engage beyond their usual decision-making systems.

The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland has been a valued publication partner for the Mindful Exclusion Governance Report, helping bring the work to the company secretaries and governance professionals who sit close to boardroom practice.

CSL is a think tank, consultancy and leadership community focused on systemic change in the corporate sector. Since being founded in 2010, its mission has been to study, activate and support corporate changemakers — helping leaders become more mindful of their ripple effects, more motivated to take action and more skilful in balancing commercial interests with wider responsibility.

At LSEG, we remain committed to supporting financial stability and sustainable growth for our customers and the communities they serve.

“We are grateful to LSEG for hosting this important conversation. Mindful Exclusion began with a simple but powerful insight: every boardroom has a bubble. At a time when AI, geopolitics and climate change are increasing uncertainty, the question is whether decision-making systems are equipped to engage beyond that bubble. This event was about grounded optimism: we can do this – not by pretending certainty exists, but by building better ways of asking, listening, deciding and acting together.”
