On Monday 13 April, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) was proud to host a special Market Close in partnership with OBN, the not-for-profit membership network that catalyses growth for the life sciences industry.
Attendees of the event comprised a mix of Life Sciences R&D leaders, along with active investors from across the industry, and was held the day before the 20th edition of BioTrinity, OBN’s highly regarded conference for the life sciences industry, where c.850 delegates convene over two days in central London for a packed programme of over 170 R&D showcase presentations, business & investment focused updates along with partnering & networking, all focused on catalysing continued success for this critically important industry.
The London Stock Exchange is particularly important for life sciences R&D companies, which require substantial, long-term investment to fund discovery, clinical trials, and regulatory approval before generating revenue. Through markets such as AIM, it provides flexible access to capital and connects companies with specialist investors who understand the scientific risk and extended development timelines inherent in the sector. Listing can enhance credibility with pharmaceutical partners, CROs, and global stakeholders, supporting collaboration and deal-making. For life sciences R&D SMEs, the LSE is therefore not just a funding route, but a critical platform for scaling innovation, advancing pipelines, and bringing new therapies to patients.
“We’re pleased to be here today for a celebratory occasion with key members of our life sciences community, on the eve of the 20th edition of our flagship BioTrinity conference. Here at OBN we are laser focused on supporting the long-term success of R&D companies in the UK, helping them to create connections, save time & money and to secure investment. We are grateful to the London Stock Exchange Group for their support and being here today at the home of public investment in UK industry seems very appropriate and the perfect runway into BioTrinity 2026”.
