London Stock Exchange welcomes Schroder Oriental Income Fund (SOI) to mark its 20th Anniversary

The London Stock Exchange is pleased to welcome Schroder Oriental Income Fund (SOI) to mark its 20th year of operation – a milestone that reflects two decades of disciplined investing for growth and income across the Asia Pacific region.

Launched in 2005 and listed on the London Stock Exchange, Schroder Oriental Income was one of the UK’s first investment trusts to make the case for Asia as a dedicated source of growing income — at a time when the region was better known for its growth potential. Twenty years on, that founding conviction has been proved right.

The Company invests in quality companies with the potential for capital growth alongside attractive dividend prospects. Portfolio Manager Richard Sennitt has spent more than thirty years investing in Asian equities for Schroders and is supported by one of the most well-resourced teams with on-the-ground research operations in the region.

“Asia’s income story has come a long way since 2005. The region’s dividend culture has deepened, governance has improved, and there is a broader range of high-quality, cash-generative businesses than when the Company was established. Despite this, there is substantial room for dividends to increase consistently over the long term. Payout ratios across the region remain below global averages, and Asia’s structural growth prospects remain as compelling as ever. We are proud of the sector leading performance that this company has achieved over the past twenty years, and we are even more excited about what comes next.”

The Market Close ceremony at the London Stock Exchange brings together those whose commitment has been central to the Company’s success — marking twenty years of consistent income investing in Asia and looking ahead with confidence to the next chapter.
