London Stock Exchange welcomes the #EthnicityPayGap campaign to close London’s markets

Today, the London Stock Exchange was proud to host the Market Close Ceremony as part of Race Equality Week 2026, convening the conversation on pay equity with the #EthnicityPayGap Campaign, leading UK employers, and the Minister of State for Equalities, Seema Malhotra.

The Summit recognised the importance of bringing together voices that do not always meet in the same room — from policy, business, law, and advocacy — to focus on one of the clearest signals of fairness in the workplace: pay.

Established in 2018, the #EthnicityPayGap Campaign has played a central role in raising awareness of ethnicity-based pay disparities and in advocating for clearer, more consistent approaches to reporting and accountability, calling on employers to demonstrate action and not intention alone.

The Market Close formed part of the wider programme for the 2026 Ethnicity Pay Gap Summit, delivered in partnership with iCan and Legal & General, and featuring a keynote address from the Minister of State for Equalities Seema Malhotra and opening remarks from Dianne Greyson, Founder of the #EthnicityPayGap Campaign. The Summit brought together employers, policymakers, and practitioners to examine the systems that shape pay outcomes, strengthen accountability, and move from intention to action.

“The #EthnicityPayGap Campaign exists to challenge complacency and to drive meaningful change. Aspiring for equity in pay should be everyone’s ambition if we are serious about building a fairer society.”

As Race Equality Week draws to a close, today’s ceremony reinforced the role of principled leadership in sustaining trust in institutions, recognising that fairness in pay is essential to resilient markets and inclusive growth.
