Today, the London Stock Exchange welcomed a delegation from the Republic of Angola, led by H.E. Vera Daves de Sousa, Minister of Finance, to open the market and mark the start of the Angola–UK Investment Forum, taking place in London on September 8 and 9, 2026.
The Market Open Ceremony also marked the commencement Angola Day, organised by the London Stock Exchange in partnership with Standard Bank and the Government of Angola. The event brings together senior representatives from Angola’s public and private sectors, international financial institutions, investors, UK companies and development partners.
Angola is advancing an ambitious programme of economic diversification and reform designed to strengthen public finances, improve the business environment and expand the role of private investment in driving sustainable growth. Against this backdrop, the Forum provides an opportunity to present the country’s progress, priorities and investment pipeline directly to the international financial community.
Discussions on Angola Day will cover the macroeconomic outlook and ongoing reforms, the fiscal and monetary policy agendas, debt markets and funding strategies, the privatisation programme, capital-market development, initial public offerings and opportunities across strategic sectors. The programme underscores the importance Angola attaches to capital markets as instruments for mobilising investment, broadening access to finance and supporting economic transformation.
On 9 September, the UK–Angola Trade and Investment Forum will broaden the conversation to development finance, export promotion and strategic infrastructure, alongside business-to-business and business-to-government meetings.
Angola’s participation has a clear objective: to turn dialogue into investable partnerships. The delegation will engage investors on the conditions required to mobilise long-term capital, diversify financing sources and support projects capable of creating jobs, expanding productive capacity and increasing exports.
For Angola, the United Kingdom offers deep capital markets, world-class financial expertise and a strong platform for international partnerships. For UK and global investors, Angola offers significant natural and human potential, a strategic Atlantic location and opportunities arising from an economy undergoing transformation.
The Market Open celebrates the growing economic relationship between Angola and the United Kingdom and reaffirms a shared commitment to transparent, durable and mutually beneficial investment partnerships.
