City Giving Day is The Lord Mayor's Appeal's annual celebration of philanthropy, championed by successive Lord Mayors of the City of London. It brings together businesses, livery companies and organisations from across the City to celebrate and showcase the many ways they support charities and their local communities.
Throughout the day, thousands of employees will take part in activities ranging from charity cycle challenges and treasure hunts to volunteering initiatives, fundraising events and awareness campaigns, making a tangible difference to charities and causes across London.
This year's City Giving Day takes place as The Lord Mayor's Appeal begins its new strategy focused on supporting young Londoners who are not in education, employment or training. By bringing together businesses, charities and civic organisations, the Appeal is helping young Londoners develop the knowledge, confidence, skills and experience they need to access meaningful employment, creating brighter futures and enabling them to reach their full potential.
“City Giving Day is a brilliant reminder of what we can achieve when businesses and people come together to support the communities around them.”
“From fundraising and volunteering to simply giving time and raising awareness, every contribution matters. The City has a long history of philanthropy, but this is about looking forward too, finding new ways to connect capital, talent and opportunity with the people and communities who need it most.”
Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE
The Lady Mayor is delighted to attend the London Stock Exchange Market Close Ceremony as part of the City Giving Day 2026 celebrations. Joined by the Sheriffs and fellow City representatives, she will spend the day visiting organisations across the Square Mile to see first-hand the creativity, generosity and community spirit that make City Giving Day such a special occasion.
