Commercial International Bank (CIB) celebrates 30 years on the London Stock Exchange

The London Stock Exchange is pleased to celebrate 30 years since CIB’s listing on its market, marking three decades of a journey characterised by innovation, international investor engagements, sustainable development and transformation.

In 1996, CIB became the first Egyptian company to offer its shares on international markets, with a Global Depositary Receipt (GDR) program on the London Stock Exchange. The listing enabled CIB to embark on a new journey, providing access to investors who could not invest directly in Egypt.

CIB’s London listing continues to reinforce the bank’s commitment to transparency, governance and disclosure. In Egypt, CIB is the blue-chip stock and the largest constituent on the Egyptian Exchange. Investors and analysts widely view its shares as the proxy for the Egyptian market.

“Celebrating 30 years on the London Stock Exchange is a significant milestone in our journey. Our presence on one of the world’s leading financial markets underscores the resilience and long-term vision that has shaped our institution. As we look ahead, we remain committed to building on this foundation, unlocking new avenues for growth, and strengthening our position as a bridge between Egypt and the world.”

Thirty years later, CIB’s GDR listing reflects a sustained commitment to international standards and to building trust with global investors. Building on three decades of international market presence, the bank continues to advance innovation and responsible banking, while expanding its regional footprint and creating value for its customers, shareholders, stakeholders, and the wider community.
