The British-American Project is a fellowship comprised of individuals from the United Kingdom and the United States of America, who come from a very broad spectrum of occupations and backgrounds. It was founded in 1985 to nurture the special relationship between the UK and the USA, and this year it celebrates its 40th anniversary.
The Fellowship is now an exceptional network of transatlantic leaders, which - in both the spectrum of its membership and the dynamic, stimulating and far-reaching discussions and experiences it shares - values diversity, equity and inclusion in all its forms.
The Fellowship holds a conference each year which moves back and forth between the UK and the USA and is staged in different regional locations. The conference, attended by Fellows and selected guests, welcomes a new class of delegates each year, individuals who are rising leaders in their fields. In 2025, the Fellowship’s annual conference is taking place in London where Fellows will be reflecting on the evolution of East London; the global shifts redefining the world; and how diplomacy, creativity, innovation and sustainability can drive new solutions for a rapidly changing planet.
In addition, the Fellowship runs an annual calendar of events discussing and debating both current affairs and special interest topics.
Platinum Fellows (those who have been participating for 20+ years) are kicking off this year’s conference at the London Stock Exchange by recognising the British American Project’s 40th year of forging partnerships and nurturing lifelong relationships through the medium of this extraordinary transatlantic leadership group.
“We are delighted to celebrate the British-American Project’s 40th anniversary at the London Stock Exchange which, like us, has such a strong history of convening stakeholders. This aligns with our transatlantic mission focused on encouraging open dialogue, shared learning, and collaboration across borders and disciplines.”
