LSEG welcomed back The Amos Bursary to celebrate 15 years of International Experiences

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) welcomed back The Amos Bursary to celebrate 15 years of International Experiences - a milestone recognising the organisation’s commitment to empowering young British people of African and Caribbean heritage through global learning, leadership and opportunity.

This special event marked a significant moment in The Amos Bursary’s mission to equip talented young people with the skills, confidence and global perspective to excel. It also formed part of LSEG’s Black History Month programme, celebrating heritage, pride and purpose as drivers of progress and inclusion.

For the past 15 years, The Amos Bursary has empowered more than 150 students to travel across 15 countries, from the United States and China to Ghana, South Africa and the Caribbean. These experiences have given scholars opportunities to explore international markets, connect with global leaders and expand their worldviews. Each journey has been transformative, deepening identity, strengthening leadership and inspiring community impact.

Championing opportunity and belonging

Founded in 2009 by Baroness Valerie Amos LG, CH and Colleen Amos OBE, The Amos Bursary was established to address the under-representation of British young people of African and Caribbean heritage in higher education and the world of work. Through a five-year development programme, the Bursary provides mentoring, personal development, professional training and exposure to international opportunities.

Its mission is to ensure that exceptional young people are seen, supported and celebrated — and that their stories of success become the norm rather than the exception.

For fifteen years, the International Experience Programme has embodied that mission, helping scholars connect their local roots to global routes. It has been proudly supported since its inception by Linklaters, whose longstanding partnership has enabled students to travel abroad and gain first-hand experience of global industries, innovation and culture.

A partnership powered by pride and purpose

LSEG’s relationship with The Amos Bursary reflects a shared commitment to inclusion, education and opportunity. In 2024, LSEG was honoured to host Baroness Amos to close the market in celebration of Black History Month — a moment that symbolised the power of representation and legacy.

This year, the Group once again welcomed The Amos Community to its London offices, reaffirming its support for initiatives that open doors for the next generation of diverse leaders.

“We are incredibly proud to celebrate 15 years of international experiences that have shaped the lives of so many of our students. Our longstanding partnership with Linklaters has been fundamental to this journey, enabling hundreds of young people to broaden their horizons and embrace global opportunity. We are equally excited about our emerging relationship with LSEG, whose enthusiasm and commitment to diversity and inclusion give us great confidence for the future. Together, we are building pathways that empower young people to stand firm in pride, lead with purpose and make a lasting global impact.”

Standing firm in power and pride

This year’s celebration took place under the Black History Month theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” a fitting reflection of The Amos Bursary’s enduring impact. Each scholar’s journey is powered by pride in heritage and driven by purpose to make a difference, echoing LSEG’s own belief in the power of markets and education to drive sustainable progress.

The event brought together scholars, alumni, corporate partners, mentors and supporters to reflect on 15 years of global engagement and to look ahead to the next chapter of impact. Guests heard from alumni whose international experiences shaped their careers, and from corporate champions committed to ensuring such opportunities continue to grow.

As the evening concluded, the message was clear: when opportunity meets ambition, borders disappear. The Amos Bursary’s international footprint stands as proof that investment in young people is an investment in the future — one that strengthens communities, industries and nations alike.

LSEG is proud to celebrate this enduring partnership and congratulates The Amos Bursary on 15 years of linking global opportunities — and many more of transforming lives, inspiring future generations and changing the narrative.
