London Stock Exchange welcomes ETFGI for the Opening Bell Ceremony, celebrating 25 Years of ETFs in Europe

The London Stock Exchange (LSE) is pleased to welcome ETFGI and distinguished guests for a special Opening Bell Ringing Ceremony, marking the 25th anniversary of Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) in Europe.

Since the launch of the first ETFs in Europe in 2000, the industry has experienced remarkable growth and innovation, becoming an integral part of global financial markets. Today, ETFs play a vital role in providing investors, financial advisors, and institutional investors with cost-effective, transparent, and diversified access to markets worldwide.

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consulting firm, has been at the forefront of supporting and analysing the growth and evolution of the ETF industry globally. The bell ringing ceremony will kick off the 6th Annual ETFGI Global ETFs Insights Summit - Europe & Africa, taking place at the London Stock Exchange on May 1st, with additional virtual sessions on May 2nd.

The Summit brings together key industry leaders, regulators, asset managers, financial advisors, institutional investors, and stakeholders to share insights, foster dialogue, and celebrate the achievements of the sector. Throughout the day, attendees will participate in engaging panel discussions covering market structure, regulatory developments, innovation in active and virtual asset ETFs, trading practices, and the future of ETFs across Europe and Africa. The event will conclude with a networking drinks reception.

Today’s ceremony and the ETFGI Global ETFs Insights Summit reflect the important contributions of ETFs to capital markets and recognise the collaboration between issuers, investors, exchanges, and institutions that continue to drive innovation and progress.

We are delighted to host ETFGI and their guests at London Stock Exchange for this important occasion and look forward to a successful event and the continued advancement of the ETF industry in the years ahead.
