The London Stock Exchange was pleased to welcome the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Corporate and Financial Group (CFG) to mark 50 years of leadership in corporate and financial communications.
Founded in 1975 at the historic Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub on Fleet Street, the CIPR CFG began as a small, yet ambitious group of professionals dedicated to building trust in business through effective communication. Today, it has grown into a leading community of around 800 public relations professionals, championing strategic communication as vital to business success and to building trust in the markets and wider society.
The Market Close ceremony brought together industry leaders, rising talent and longstanding members to celebrate five decades of achievement and to look ahead to the evolving role of public relations in a complex, fast-moving world. With reputation and stakeholder trust more important than ever, the CFG continues to serve as a central hub for professionals in corporate and financial communications, providing opportunities to connect, develop their careers and share best practice across a supportive community.
“Fifty years ago, a small group of professionals came together with a simple but powerful idea: that clear, honest communication helps build stronger businesses. That was the beginning of the CIPR Corporate and Financial Group. Today, we’re a thriving community of around 800 people working across the sector, from those just starting out to experienced advisors, all united by a shared commitment to excellence, integrity and progress. As we celebrate this milestone, we are not only looking back with pride but also looking ahead with purpose, as our members continue to shape the future of communication for the next fifty years.”
