The London Stock Exchange is pleased to welcome International Biotechnology Trust plc (IBT) as it marks the recent passing of its 30th anniversary.
Launched in 1994, IBT is the oldest UK investment trust offering dedicated access to the fast-evolving world of biotechnology and life sciences. Over the three decades since, the Trust has consistently sought to deliver long-term returns for shareholders by backing the innovation that ultimately drives positive progress in healthcare.
Today, IBT supports a diversified portfolio of companies developing next-generation treatments across a broad range of therapeutic areas. Alongside strong investment performance, the Trust has backed science that has transformed outcomes for patients around the world – from targeted oncology therapies to breakthroughs in rare diseases.
This milestone also reflects the stewardship of the investment team, with portfolio managers Ailsa Craig and Marek Poszepczynski together bringing more than 30 years of experience on the Trust. As part of Schroders since 2023, IBT continues to combine specialist knowledge, active portfolio management and a disciplined approach to risk – to support long-term growth and value creation for its investors.
“This anniversary is first and foremost a moment to thank the shareholders who have supported IBT’s journey. Biotechnology is a sector where the pace of innovation continues to accelerate – and we remain as committed as ever to identifying the companies that can turn great science into meaningful returns for investors.”
