The combination will create an investment trust with approximately £2.1 billion in net assets and is expected to result in substantial benefits for shareholders, most notably, providing access to the flagship UK closed-ended vehicle for European equity investment.
Fidelity International, a global asset manager with over $469.5 billion in assets under management, including $45 billion in European Equities (as at 30 June 2025), will continue to serve as investment manager of the Company. The portfolio will remain under the experienced and successful leadership of Co-Portfolio Managers Sam Morse and Marcel Stötzel, supported by the depth and expertise of the wider Fidelity European Equities team.
“The Board of Fidelity European Trust PLC believes this is an exciting opportunity, with compelling benefits for both sets of shareholders, to create the ‘go to trust’ for investing in Europe. The proposals will result in the Company being well positioned to continue to deliver attractive returns, with new and existing Shareholders benefitting from a reduced management fee and lower ongoing costs ratio.”
