The Government of Alberta is honoured to close the London Stock Exchange markets today. The Market Close ceremony celebrates the successful issuance of Alberta’s €1.25 billion Euro bond in March 2025.
This offering marked Alberta’s return to the EUR benchmark market; having last accessed the EUR market with a €1.5bn long 10yr fixed rate offering in April 2024. The transaction is also the first Canadian province to issue in EUR in the calendar year. These offerings have solidified Alberta’s position in the international capital markets as a strong, high-quality issuer.
Despite a very active March global SSA issuance calendar, the province recorded an order book in excess of €3.9B. The offering was allocated to more than 95 unique accounts, with demand well-balanced across investor types and geographies, enabling 3 bps compression from initial pricing thoughts to final terms.
The transaction was led by RBC, TD, Barclays and supported by Nord LB.
“This successful Euro bond issuance reaffirms Alberta’s reputation as a stable, secure and high-quality issuer in international capital markets. Global investors continue to recognise Alberta’s strong fiscal fundamentals, economic leadership and commitment to long-term stability.”
