Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vanguard globally with the London Stock Exchange

The London Stock Exchange congratulates Vanguard on the 50th anniversary of its founding in the United States in 1975.

Vanguard was established on a simple but revolutionary idea: that an investment company should manage its funds in the interests of its clients. This philosophy has helped millions of investors around the world achieve their financial goals with low-cost, high-quality investments.

Vanguard now has more than 50m investors worldwide, with $10.1 trillion assets under management (AUM) globally. It offers 216 funds in the US and 225 funds outside the US.

Vanguard has led the low-cost revolution in the investment management industry, bringing good-value, high-quality investment products to international markets to help investors meet their financial goals.

Vanguard opened its European headquarters in London in 2009 and launched its first exchange-traded fund (ETF) in Europe in 2012. It has 109 equity and fixed income ETFs listed at the London Stock Exchange.

Vanguard’s ETF lineup is comprised of well-diversified equity and fixed income products, which clients may use as the foundation for their portfolios. This supports the company’s mission to lower the cost of investing and simplify market access for investors.

“Our structure and scale mean we have a track record of reducing fees globally and this has been the case in Europe too. As our business continues to grow in Europe – and as we have demonstrated over time – we will continue to look for ways to pass on economies of scale.”

“As we celebrate our 50th anniversary globally, we are looking ahead to another 50 years of changing the way the world invests. Our vision is not just to maintain our growth but to expand our impact, ensuring that we continue to meet the evolving needs of our investors for the next 50 years and beyond.”
