“We are thrilled to be given this wonderful opportunity almost exactly to the day we were founded 150 years ago on 5th December 1875. It feels fitting to celebrate this significant milestone at the London Stock Exchange, a place that is at the heart of investment and innovation.”

Redmayne Bentley, an investment management, stockbroking and financial planning firm was founded by John Redmayne, who started his one-man business in Leeds in 1875. A century and a half later, it has over 25 offices nationwide.

The firm's archive shows that in his early days, John Redmayne was investing in innovations including trams, utility companies and ready-to-wear clothing, which later became more mainstream and a key part of the people’s lives, highlighting the role that investors play in supporting new ideas.

“The strong values John Redmayne held in 1875 - integrity and personal service to clients - remain at the core of our identity today. We are proud of our past, but also looking ahead to an exciting future as we build the foundations for the next 150 years and the firm’s continued growth and development.”

“Thank you to London Stock Exchange for this honour and all those who have been part of our story, from clients to colleagues, your support really does mean a lot to us.”
