CC Japan Income & Growth Trust plc Celebrates its 10th Anniversary with the London Stock Exchange
Today, CC Japan Income & Growth Trust plc (“CCJI” or the “Company”) celebrates its 10th anniversary with a market closing ceremony at The London Stock Exchange, marking a decade of strong outperformance against the TOPIX Index and consistent dividend growth.
In the ten years since inception, the Company has comfortably outperformed the TOPIX Index, having returned 188.5% for shareholders on a share price total return basis, compared with the TOPIX Index which returned 148.6% on a sterling adjusted basis. Furthermore, the Company’s dividend has risen every year since inception.
The Company was launched as a closed-ended investment company in December 2015, with the objective of providing shareholders with dividend income combined with capital growth, mainly through investment in equities listed or quoted in Japan. The founders foresaw - and continue to expect - the significant upside potential in Japanese equities, particularly among companies benefitting from the country’s wave of corporate governance reforms. The investment portfolio is managed on behalf of many shareholders, from small individual investors, to wealth managers, and major institutions.
Richard Aston at Chikara Investment LLP (formally Coupland Cardiff Asset Management LLP), has been at the helm of the Company’s investment strategy since inception. Richard has remained consistent in his investment process, prioritising companies with resilient fundamentals and strong total return potential underpinned by Japan’s corporate reforms. The Investment management team has been strengthened further through the addition of Portfolio Managers / Analysts Megumi Takayama and Theo Wyld in 2018 and 2024 respectively.
The ceremony was attended by CCJI’s Chairman June Aitken, the Investment Management team from Chikara Investments LLP, Board members and shareholders, together with invited guests.
