Celebrating its first inaugural event since its inception in 2021, MENA FCCG - Europe Chapter's event is a milestone in its outreach activities towards compliance professionals of Arab banks operating in UK and Europe.
MENA FCCG Europe is a regional arm of the MENA FCCG and operates as a distinct body under the umbrella of the MENA FCCG.
MENA FCCG is an industry-driven voluntary initiative consisting of leading financial institutions across MENA. Originally established in 2016, it seeks to bring collective action in the fight against money laundering and terror finance in the region. The group’s objectives focus on two main dimensions: (1) enhancing public private sector dialogue for better understanding and management of financial crime threats, and (2) building capacity across the compliance profession in the region.
The Europe chapter aims to extend MENA FCCG’s objectives to Europe by bringing together compliance professionals of Arab banks operating in Europe to enhance financial crime literacy and support implementation of best practices. The Arab Bankers Association acts as the strategic partner and the chapter has entered a strategic alliance with Themis Services, a specialist financial crime consultancy.
“MENA FCCG has made significant efforts in building bridges with Central Banks, Associations of Banks, and international organisations, such as FATF, UN, OECD for increasing the effectiveness of measures against the infinite financial crime challenge. FCCG and its Europe Chapter will continue capacity building activities centered around alignment with best practice and a culture of doing the right thing, without ethical compromise”.
