LSEG celebrates the Eastern Africa Association’s Diamond Jubilee

Celebrating 60 years of supporting businesses in East Africa and contributing to the region’s growth and prosperity

Established in Kenya and the UK in 1964, the Eastern Africa Association (EAA) has grown into a pivotal business information service, benefiting a diverse array of regional and foreign investment corporations. It remains centered on enhancing economic ties, understanding political landscapes, and supporting members in navigating the vibrant East African markets. It maintains excellent diplomatic and government ties and brings together industry leaders, corporations, academics, and public sector parties to support its mission aims.

For 60 years, EAA has been at the forefront of promoting trade and investment, linking the region with global markets.

The Association is marking its 60th anniversary today, a significant milestone operating throughout a period covering most of the extraordinarily dynamic post-independence history of the region. It has had an enduring positive influence on the economic development of East Africa, encouraging international investment during periods of significant economic growth as well as periods of political upheaval and sometimes conflict.

Our mission, rooted in the belief that private sector investment is key to social and economic development, is to facilitate this in a sustainable, long-term manner.

The association is uniquely positioned, with a robust network physically present in the region. As a not-for-profit entity, funded solely by member subscriptions, it maintains an independent and apolitical stance. The membership and network, made up of over 500 businesses in the region hailing from over 25 countries, form a dynamic community committed to responsible business practices in Eastern Africa.

Our target markets extend beyond East Africa to the Horn of Africa; key economies include Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, the DRC, Somalia, Djibouti, Sudan, and South Sudan.
