The London Stock Exchange was delighted to celebrate the unveiling of the 2024 Green Economy Mark cohort at our Market Open ceremony.
This year, we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the London Stock Exchange's pioneering introduction of the Green Economy Mark, which made us the first global exchange to introduce a green economy offering for equities.
Companies and funds provided the Green Economy Mark represent a universe of green equities for the growing number of investors seeking to deploy their capital into companies and funds which are contributing to the transition to a sustainable, low carbon economy.
From early-stage technology companies to long-established manufacturers and specialist green funds, the diversity and breadth of this year's cohort highlights the value of the Green Economy Mark in providing visibility to a cross-sector universe of green equities beyond those typically referenced as green.
The green economy presents a significant growth opportunity; green revenues for all global listed companies are on track to exceed US$5 trillion by 2025 - doubling in size over the past decade. This growth story has also been demonstrated across London's markets. Since 2020, the combined market capitalisation of the cohort has grown by over £100billion, from £67.7bn to £172.8bn.
The Capital Markets are playing, and will continue to play, a key role in mobilising the capital needed to scale the green economy.
