London Stock Exchange’s guests closed the Markets of the London Stock Exchange to celebrate the first Sustainability Reporting Summit that was hosted on 2nd October 2024 in partnership with sponsors, CEN Group, HSBC, Inspired PLC and Latham & Watkins.
The Sustainability Reporting Summit brought together 30 experts from corporates, standard-setters and financial institutions to provide insights and advice on navigating the sustainability disclosure landscape.
Recognising that sustainability disclosure has moved rapidly from a voluntary activity to an increasingly standardised world, built around common data points for comparison, rather than a narrative exercise; that regulators worldwide are demanding far more complex analysis such as double materiality and that sustainability data must be auditable, the London Stock Exchange convened a group of industry experts to support companies and the wider financial and reporting ecosystem in delivering best practice.
Keynote speakers included Javier Echave, Chief Operating Officer, Heathrow Airport, who joined Jane Goodland, Group Head of Sustainability, LSEG, to discuss how progressive Boards use sustainability data to support effective strategic decision making and Jack Roper, Group Head of Sustainability & Reputation Strategy Legal & General who joined a session with Claire Dorrian, Head of Sustainable Finance for LSEG Markets, LSEG, to discuss the role of sustainability data in risk management.
Panel sessions with expert sustainability practitioners explained: how investors receive and use reported data; how to understand materiality; how to ensure data is ‘investment grade’; and the evolution international standards and regulation.
