Invest Africa is the leading business platform to drive sustainable investment into Africa. For more than 60 years, with chapters in Southern Africa, East Africa, the UK, UAE and US, we convened our network of more than 400 Africa-focused investors, businesses and government through membership, connect and consult. Over the past 9 years we delivered 12 investor missions with 1,500 investors and businesses.
Today, Invest Africa is hosting its 10th annual Africa Debate, London’s leading Africa-focused investment forum, in the Guildhall. The event will explore Africa’s role in a changing global order, with speakers debating the continent’s trade and investment landscape and its leadership position on the international stage. Together with Afreximbank, we are also proud to present a project showcase this year, highlighting bankable opportunities for international investors looking to deploy capital into the continent and diversify their portfolios.
Headline speakers include Samaila Zubairu, President and Chief Executive Officer, Africa Finance Corporation; Dr Akinwumi Adesina, President, African Development Bank Group; The Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP, Deputy Foreign Secretary and Minister of State (Development and Africa), Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office; Diana Layfield, Chair, British International Investment; Zeinab Badawi, President of SOAS, University of London; and Idris Elba, Actor, Filmmaker, Musician, Entrepreneur, and Activist; amongst other leaders from government and private enterprise.
Africa Finance Corporation, the leading infrastructure solutions provider in Africa, is Headline Partner for the Forum. “Africa has long been heralded as the world’s final frontier for substantial growth and investment, but the actual influx of long-term investment has seldom mirrored this optimistic rhetoric. The continent has also contended with the hierarchical structures of the global order. However, perhaps more than ever before, African leaders are leveraging shifting global power dynamics to redefine their roles, and global leaders are awakening to the imperative of engaging more consistently – and substantively – with the continent. At The Africa Debate, we will explore these dynamics, including the continent’s role in everything from the global energy transition to global AI governance, to consider how we can collectively advance our trifecta themes for this year’s conference: Trade, Investment, and Leadership on the continent.”
