Climate Investment Coalition Opens London Stock Exchange for the launch of Climate Investment Summit 2022 alongside London Climate Action Week

Climate Investment Coalition opened the London Stock Exchange to launch the flagship event at London Climate Action Week 2022, Climate Investment Summit, focusing on accelerating climate investments by 2030.

The Climate Investment Summit, taking place in partnership with FTSE Russell, is a unique and leading global forum for the practice of financing and investing in global climate solutions this decade, to support making finance flows consistent with a pathway towards low greenhouse gas emissions. It is a key event in the Climate Investment Coalition’s investment roadmap to COP27.

The Climate Investment Summit convened globally leading climate investment leaders at the prestigious London Stock Exchange for a full day programme of solution-driven discussions and to create a high-level platform for public-private sector engagement for business development on the road to the crucial COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt in November.

The Summit aimed to support rapid and measurable impact to the real economy and support Europe’s exit from oil and gas reliance and accelerate the green energy transition for an energy and climate secure world.

The Summit is hosted by the Climate Investment Coalition, an international public-private initiative that works to accelerate climate action by mobilising significant commitments for clean energy and climate investments now and towards 2030. At COP26, the Climate Investment Coalition announced a total collective commitment of US$130 billion in clean energy and climate investments, by Nordic and UK pension funds, to be invested by 2030 and reported on annually.

“Opening the London Stock Exchange marks an important milestone in the Climate Investment Coalition’s investment roadmap to COP27. Mobilising and investing the capital to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement requires collective action and hosting the Climate Investment Summit at the London Stock Exchange during London Climate Action Week represents a key signal that across sectors, climate finance and the financial markets infrastructure are gearing towards 2030 climate targets.”
