First time issuers
When you’re ready to proceed with admission, please follow the steps below. Requirements vary depending on the market you are applying to:
- The FCA’s regulated market – the Main Market (relevant for Equity, Debt or ETP); or
- London Stock Exchange MTF markets – AIM (equity growth market) and International Securities Market (ISM) (debt market)
For the next steps, we recommend completing these as early as possible to support a smooth and efficient admissions process.
-
All issuers must have the following reference data. Requirements may vary by instrument structure, but these identifiers are mandatory across all asset classes and need to be obtained before admission to trading.
Legal Entity Identifier (LEI)
What it is: A unique 20-character code that identifies your company globally in financial markets.
Do you need it? Yes – required for all issuers.
When to apply: First step – apply as early as possible.
How to apply:
- Apply via Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) User Guide Search and Request LEI (PDF)
- Alternatively, see LEI information page
- Contact: LEI@lseg.com
International Securities Identification Number (ISIN)
What it is: An ISIN is a unique 12-character alphanumeric code, where the first two characters denote the country code of the issuer (or, for debt instruments, the place of deposit).
Do you need it? Yes, an ISIN is required for any instrument which intends to list or trade on our markets.
- Equity → One ISIN per instrument class
- Debt → One ISIN per instrument (if not fungible)
- ETP → One ISIN per instrument
When to apply: LEI is mandatory and must be obtained before submitting an ISIN application (typically at least one month prior to admission). If already issued, the ISIN application can be submitted within the same timeframe.
How to apply:
- For queries on ISIN applications, allocation jurisdiction, or UK ISIN data, contact the ISIN Services Team
- Email: isinrequests@lseg.com Webpage: ISIN
- Register for a free Data Solutions account at www.sedol.co.uk, select Request UK ISIN button, set a Pegasus password, and submit your application. (See UK ISIN application process document (PDF))
Important notes:
- Draft security documentation is acceptable; final versions must be provided as soon as possible
- If ISIN allocation falls under a different NNA, please refer to ANNA Members & Partners - A Global Community to obtain contact details
- If a confidential ISIN is requested, it is the responsibility of the Requestor to notify the team when confidentiality should be removed
Stock Exchange Daily Official List (SEDOL)
What it is: A SEDOL is a 7-character alphanumeric code assigned to an instrument at country and market level, with one SEDOL allocated per country.
If a confidential SEDOL is requested, it is the responsibility of the Requestor to notify the team when confidentiality should be removed.
Do you need it? A SEDOL is not a legal listing requirement but is operationally essential for LSE trading and market data.
Key points:
- Usually assigned once an ISIN exists
- You may have multiple SEDOLs for one ISIN (e.g. different currencies or trading lines)
When to apply:
- A SEDOL may be requested once an ISIN is assigned by a non-UK NNA; if allocated by the UK NNA, the SEDOL is issued simultaneously with the ISIN
- A SEDOL application must be submitted at least one month prior to admission
How to apply:
- The SEDOL Services Team no longer accept direct applications via email. See My SEDOL - New SEDOL Allocation process document (PDF)
- For queries on SEDOL creation process, My SEDOL training, or SEDOL data changes, contact the SEDOL Services Team: smfdb@lseg.com
- For queries regarding SEDOL Licensing and access to SEDOL data, contact the SEDOL Licensing team: SEDOL@lseg.com
- For more information, you can view the SEDOL webpage
- Action required: Both SEDOL Masterfile Licence holders and unlicensed My SEDOL users must register for a free Data Solutions account at www.sedol.co.uk, then use My SEDOL Chat to request SEDOL create permissions (granted after training completion). Masterfile Licence holders must include their Customer Reference ID in the registration. Once access is granted, both user types can create Coded or Confidential SEDOLs as required
Tradable Instrument Display Mnemonic (TIDM)
What it is: Your ticker code used for trading and display on the Exchange.
Do you need it? Yes – required for trading.
What this means in practice:
- Equity → One ticker per line
- Debt → Assigned even if less visible
- ETPs → Multiple tickers for multi-currency listings
When to apply: Early in the process to secure your preferred ticker.
How to apply: Apply via the Admissions Self-Service Portal (SSP).
The Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA)
What it is: ANNA is the Regulatory Authority for all National Numbering Agencies (NNAs) and ANNA Partners across the globe.
Do you need it? Yes, to identify the correct National Numbering Agency (NNA) that ISIN allocation would fall under (if not under the UK NNA).
When/how to use:
- If ISIN allocation falls under a different NNA, please refer to ANNA Members & Partners - A Global Community to obtain correct contact details
- Submit an ISIN application to the specified NNA only

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Accordingly, the Exchange conducts a comprehensive KYC process for all new applicants prior to the admission of securities to its markets.
KYC must be completed for all relevant products and services, including the data products referenced above, as well as for admission to the Exchange.
You can find all the forms for the below in the resources section.
Equity, Debt & ETP | Main Market
What this is: KYC starts with submitting an Early Notification (EN) form, which provides key details about your company and transaction. This allows the Exchange to begin KYC checks in parallel with the FCA prospectus review, helping avoid delays.
Do you need to submit an EN? Yes – required for new applicants. Applies to standalone listings and programme establishments.
When to submit:
Submit your EN to en@lseg.com:- Equity: at least 20 business days before admission
- ETP: at least 20 business days before admission
- Debt: at least 5 business days before admission
Key takeaway: Submit early — this is one of the first formal steps in the admissions process and runs alongside FCA review.
Equity | AIM
What this is: KYC also starts with an Early Notification (EN) form under AIM Rules.
Do you need to submit an EN? Yes – required for all AIM admissions.
When to submit:
- Submitted by your Nominated Adviser (Nomad)
- Sent to aimregulation@lseg.com
- Must be submitted in good time before admission
Key takeaway: Your Nomad manages this step, but you must provide the required information early to avoid delays.
Debt | ISM
What this is: KYC is completed as part of the document review process (no separate EN form required).
Do you need to submit an EN? No – EN is not required.
What you need to submit instead:
- Draft admissions particulars
- Relevant application checklist
- Any derogation requests
When & how to submit:
- Submit documents to ISMapplication@lseg.com
- Done alongside document review process
Key takeaway: KYC is integrated into your application — ensure documentation is complete and submitted early.
-
You must have an account with RNS (or alternative PIP) set up ahead of admission.
RNS is our official channel for regulatory announcements, used by companies admitted to trading to disclose price‑sensitive and regulatory information fairly and simultaneously to the market.
Register for RNS or click on the following link to view the full list of FCA-approved Primary Information Providers.
AIM Announcements
Do you need to publish before admission? No.
What you must do:
- Coordinate with your nomad the timing of release of the pre-admission announcement which is published by the Exchange in line with AIM Rules
- Follow the AIM timetable (set with your Nomad)
Key takeaway: from admission an AIM company must comply with its disclosure obligations.
Main Equity Announcements
Do you need to publish before admission? Not mandatory by default.
What you may do:
- Use an Intention to Float (ITF) announcement
- A market-led communication tool
- Common for IPOs to signal a potential transaction and begin investor engagement
At admission: Most announcements (except “New Company”) should be published before admission.
Key takeaway: RNS is typically the provider of choice for regulatory announcements, as well as general investor communication.
Main Debt Announcements
Do you need to publish before admission? No standard pre-admission requirement.
At admission: Use RNS where required for:
- Transaction announcements
- Admission-related disclosures
Key takeaway: RNS is case-dependent, driven by transaction structure and disclosure needs.
Main ETP Announcements
Do you need to publish before admission? No mandatory pre-admission requirement.
- Driven mainly by prospectus/programme documentation
At admission: Use RNS for:
- Launch announcements
- Product-related updates
Key takeaway: RNS is event-driven, not a standard step for admission.
Issuer services
What this is: The Issuer Services platform is at the heart of the relationship between Issuer Investor Relations, Treasury teams, Investors and Advisors. The platform provides data, investor relations communications tools and insights to assist IR and treasury professionals with their day-to-day workflows. Read more about Issuer Services.
Do you need to use it? Recommended for all issuers + you get access as part of your annual fee!

Once admitted, issuers enter the ongoing phase of their journey, with access to a range of tools and services designed to support life on the market. Through platforms such as Issuer Services, companies can manage their public profile, engage with investors, and access market data and insights to inform decision-making.
At the same time, issuers are expected to meet their continuing obligations, including timely disclosure of material information via regulatory channels such as RNS, ensuring transparency and maintaining market integrity. The Exchange continues to support issuers post-admission, enabling them to raise further capital, maintain compliance, and build long-term relationships with investors and the wider market ecosystem.
