Thirty years of China's capital markets
December 2020 marks 30 years since the creation of both Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Between them, there are approximately 4,100 listed companies with a target market capitalisation of about RMB77,244bn. The pace of change and growth in Chinese capital markets is unparalleled and international participation and interest in these markets continues to also grow at a rapid pace.
London Stock Exchange Group is proud to have built strong relationships with China and to offer a range of unique China products and opportunities. From our ground breaking Shanghai London Stock Connect to a range of FTSE Russell index products, LSEG is proud to offer links between China and the world.
To mark this auspicious year for China’s two major exchanges, we brought together international experts to share views and insights into China’s capital markets. Across four separate webinars we looked back over 30 years of development, highlighting key features of the Chinese market, bringing insight in to what international investors need to know when investing in China and look forward to the next 30+ years to predict what is still to come.
