THENA Capital celebrates the first close of its London-based MedTech VC fund, led by an all-female General Partner team
The London Stock Exchange today welcomed THENA Capital to open trading in a Market Open Ceremony celebrating the first close of its London-based Medical Technology venture capital fund, led by an all-female General Partner team. THENA Capital, targeting a £50M fund, is anchored by the British Business Bank’s Enterprise Capital Funds Programme and has announced their first close at £27M. A milestone achievement well-timed in the month of International Women’s Day.
THENA Capital’s Fund I will invest in and partner with UK startups developing digital healthcare solutions and fast-track medical devices. The founding team brings deep industry expertise from across the global healthcare spectrum. As well as capital, they will work closely with founders to commercialise pivotal medical innovations and support the companies to scale successfully across the globe.
Fund I focusses on backing startups in key opportunity areas including chronic conditions, oncology, cardiovascular, mental health, neurology, care service delivery and women’s health - a critically underserved area.
With strong tailwinds in the healthcare sector and a first-mover advantage in early stage UK MedTech VC, THENA Capital is driving change; the future of healthcare is now.
