State Street Global Advisors Celebrates 10th Anniversary of its Convertible Bond ETF at London Stock Exchange - Story

One of the world’s leading forums for equity and fixed income trading, was today the site of a celebration of an asset which has uniquely delivered exposure to both.

State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) marked the 10th anniversary of its groundbreaking Convertible Bond ETF - SPDR® Refinitiv Global Convertible Bond UCITS ETF by ringing the market open bell rang at the London Stock Exchange.

Launched a decade ago, the fund, which is the only purely physically replicated global convertible bond exchange traded fund in the world, has offered investors a unique opportunity to tap into the power of convertible bonds—a hybrid asset class that combines the features of both bonds and stocks. By investing in convertible bonds, the fund provides a strategic way to gain exposure to equity market upside, while also offering the safety of fixed-income instruments.

Since its inception, the fund – which now has an AUM of $1.52bn (as of 19 Nov 2024) - has been at the forefront of delivering innovative, risk-managed solutions to a diverse range of investors. With a focus on convertible bonds with a larger minimum outstanding amount, the ETF has navigated changing market conditions, offering attractive returns while managing volatility.

Antoine Lesne, Head of ETF Strategy, State Street Global Advisors said: “It’s fitting that we celebrate the success of this fund at one of the world’s great venues for equity and bond trading because the fund delivers the best of both worlds, and has provided flexibility, downside protection, and growth potential, all within a single investment. Ten years since it was founded, we are proud to see how our Convertible Bond ETF has empowered investors".
