LSEG welcomes the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) to mark its recent work to develop guidance on climate transition plans

Today, Sue Lloyd, Vice Chair of the ISSB, took part in “Climate Transition Plans - navigating the pathway ahead”, a joint event with LSEG to mark the publication of the ISSB’s recent work to develop guidance - building on the TPT materials.

Since the ISSB launched its two inaugural standards in 2023 – IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 – 36, jurisdictions have adopted or otherwise used the ISSB Standards.

To reduce fragmentation of disclosures about transition plans, the IFRS Foundation assumed responsibility for the disclosure-specific materials developed by the TPT. This is part of its broader mission to create a comprehensive global baseline for sustainability-related financial disclosures.

The guidance material, launched earlier in the week during the IFRS Foundation annual conference, is designed to (1) enable entities to provide high-quality information about their climate-related transition when applying IFRS S2 and (2) support the ISSB global baseline and its implementation.

ISSB Vice Chair, Sue Lloyd said:
"This guidance document addresses the fragmentation of disclosures about transition plans—which is costly for both preparers of information and investors—and provides inspiration for entities who are applying IFRS S2 when making disclosures about their climate-related transition plans. This guidance aims to help preparers determine what information is relevant to disclose regarding their strategy and goals related to their climate-related transition."

Further information about the ISSB and its standards and educational materials can be found on the IFRS Foundation’s website and knowledge hub

Today’s event was also hosted in partnership with the Transition Pathway Initiative and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, to explore how companies are navigating climate transition planning and how institutional investors use this information to inform their investment strategies. The event was livestreamed and is available on-demand.

You can hear more on this topic in the third episode of our one-hour daily morning show produced during London Climate Action Week in partnership with the Green Finance Institute and Reuters: ‘Global action on Climate Transition plans’.
