London Stock Exchange welcomes Eduardo Guardia, Finance Minister, Government of Brazil

To mark the opening of the 3rd UK-Brazil Economic and Financial Dialogue, Robert Barnes, Global Head of Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange Group was joined today by Eduardo Guardia, Brazil’s Finance Minister; John Glen, Economic Secretary to the Treasury; H.E. Eduardo dos Santos, Brazil’s Ambassador to the UK; and H.E. Vijay Rangarajan, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Brazil, to open trading on the London Stock Exchange today.
During the ceremony, both ministers stressed the importance of a close financial services relationship between the two countries. Remarks touched on the opportunities to further develop UK-Brazil capital market cooperation, the role of green finance and on the LSEG’s ELITE programme in Brazil.

John Glen MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister said:
"I’m delighted to welcome Finance Minister Guardia to London as we look forward to a productive day of discussions to draw closer the relationship that exists between our two countries. Financial services is at the heart of that relationship, and cooperation on this important agenda means deepening links between our financial markets, increasing the two-way flow of capital, expertise, and innovation for the mutual benefit of both sides. Ultimately, this work is about delivering for the real economy, for UK and Brazilian businesses and consumers alike."
