London Stock Exchange welcomes Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust PLC celebrating its 30th anniversary year

We are delighted to be celebrating the 30th anniversary year since the launch of Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust PLC on 1st December 1989.

Since the Trust’s launch, Aberdeen New Thai Investment Trust PLC has remained the only investment trust investing exclusively in Thailand and was recently named by the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) as the only investment company that would have returned over £1 million had investors invested their maximum ISA limit from 1999 to 2019 into the Company.

Aberdeen New Thai’s Chairman Nicholas Smith commented:

As we approach the Company’s 30year anniversary of its launch in December 1989, I am pleased to note that the long term absolute performance of the Company remains strong. Our AIC “ISA Millionaire” status, now in its second year of standing, demonstrates the healthy returns which have been generated by equity investment in Thailand and which we hope to build on in the future. The capital and income growth that has been witnessed over longer time periods underscores the effectiveness of the Company’s investment strategy: a long term focus on quality companies that are resilient through varying economic cycles. Many Thai companies have access to the varied regional opportunities that now exist and continue to grow including, but not limited to, those in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

We would like to extend our thanks to the London Stock Exchange today and to give a special thanks to His Excellency, Mr. Pisanu Suvanajata, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the United Kingdom for joining us on this special occasion.
