The London Stock Exchange celebrated a groundbreaking moment in the evolution of the UK’s capital markets today with the launch of the new Main Market at our Market Close ceremony.  The updated rules recently announced by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) went into effect on Monday 29 July, and include new ways for companies to raise money in the UK, new ways of carrying out mergers and acquisitions and new ways of investing in the UK’s capital markets. Hosted by Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO, London Stock Exchange plc, special guests at the ceremony included Lord Hill of Oareford, OBE and Sarah Pritchard, Executive Director, Markets and International, FCA, as well as key stakeholders from across the UK's capital markets ecosystem who were instrumental in the implementation of the new listing rules.

The new rules make our markets simpler for companies to raise capital and in turn will create more opportunities for investors that come to London from around the UK and every part of the globe in search of great investments.
