London Stock Exchange Group welcomes Hounslow's Promise, celebrating young people

London Stock Exchange today welcomes teachers and pupils from Hounslow for the first Hounslow’s Promise Business Masterclass.

Hounslow’s Promise was founded in 2017 by the Member of Parliament for Feltham and Heston, Seema Malhotra MP, alongside Member of Parliament for Brentford and Isleworth, Ruth Cadbury MP. The initiative has been developed in partnership with Cranford Community College with input from schools, business, councillors, members of Hounslow Youth Council and community organisations. It is based on the belief that all children are capable of learning and thriving and the whole community shares a responsibility to help young people succeed. The idea is simple; that every young person is valued, all young people should be supported to accomplish their goals and no young person should be left behind.

Based on five promises made by the community to young people, the project seeks to improve the educational attainment, employability, leadership and social mobility of people through mentoring, education and personal development. The five promises are a network of caring adults, safe spaces and facilities, supporting our teachers, a healthy start and youth leadership.

The Annual Masterclass programme brings leaders and experts in a range of disciplines together with the young people of Hounslow. The programme consists of six Masterclass events a year, three held locally with guest speakers and three external events aiming to inspire and increase aspirations within the young people of Hounslow. The programme is designed to provide young people with opportunities to understand different careers and places of employment through meeting leaders in their profession and experiencing the environment of different workplaces. An important aspect of the Masterclass is that it provides an opportunity for the young people to demonstrate and develop their networking skills with other national and local leaders.

The Business Masterclass at London Stock Exchange is the first in a series of events to support the development of practical business and enterprise education in Hounslow schools and connect our young people with business role models. We would like to thank Heathrow for sponsorship of the event and the teachers from Cranford Community College, St Marks Catholic School, Brentford School for Girls, Chiswick School, The Heathland School, The Green School for Girls and The Lampton School for supporting the Masterclass today.
