London Stock Exchange Group celebrates LSEG foundation day

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) today celebrates LSEG Foundation Day. As part of the event, LSEG will donate the equivalent of one day’s trading fees from our markets, London Stock Exchange, Borsa Italiana and Turquoise to charity.

This tradition, which saw £616,000 raised for several important causes during last year’s Foundation Day, has generated £8 million since 2010. Through LSEG Foundation, the funds raised will help support a wide range of charities around the world - from the US, and the UK, to Romania, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

This year, the LSEG Foundation launched a new cross-team volunteering initiative in partnership with the Centre for Entrepreneurs, the UK’s leading entrepreneurship foundation. Its NEF Fast Track programme, in collaboration with LSEG, enabled five promising young entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds to benefit from business coaching and mentoring. In what was a competitive field, Yang Liu of Just Wears and Kike Oniwinde of BYP (Black Employee Network) were awarded places on LSEG’s ELITE platform. ELITE supports ambitious private businesses by providing access to the skills, networks and capital to reach their next stage of growth.

Foundation Day 2019 also recognised the winning regions of LSEG’s inaugural Volunteering Challenge. Three regions were recognised for having the highest percentage of LSEG volunteers during a two month period this autumn, led by Malaysia, which was followed by Sri Lanka and Romania.

To mark the occasion in London, David Schwimmer, CEO, London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) welcomed LSEG partner charities including global charity partner UNICEF and UK charity partner School Home Support (SHS), the Centre for Entrepreneurs and employees who have been actively involved in volunteering in the UK. They were joined by students from Redden Court School.

David Schwimmer, CEO, LSEG:
“We are honoured to welcome representatives from charities that the LSEG Foundation has supported this year. I am also pleased to be joined by many of our colleagues who have taken part in volunteering. On behalf of the Group, I would like to thank our charity partners for the great work they do and congratulate all the entrepreneurs who took part in NEF Fast Track at LSEG.”
