The London Stock Exchange is pleased to share its 2021 Debt Capital Markets Review. The report provides an overview of global DCM activity and highlights from the London Stock Exchange, including key transactions and initiatives within the financial community.
Key Highlights include:
- Global Trends in the Debt Capital Markets – over £515 billion on London Stock Exchange’s markets through a wide range of global borrowers.
- The Prospectus Exemption for Sovereign, Supranational and Local Authority issuers (subject to meeting certain criteria) sees frequent use, which simplifies the listing process for issuers and their advisors, including a significant number of listing switches and debuts on London’s debt markets.
- Further enhancements to London Stock Exchange’s DCM offering to issuers, now include access to SparkLive, livestreaming platform for capital markets days and bond roadshows, the world’s leading ESG database covering scores and rankings of over 10,000 companies, and LSEG Flow the automated bond documentation platform.
- Focus on sustainable finance, including a record year for the London Stock Exchange’s Sustainable Bond Market (SBM), which now includes a dedicated segment for climate transition bonds. Insights from COP26, the launch of climate transition offering, Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM) solution and key ESG transactions highlighted within the report.
Earlier in 2021, London Stock Exchange became the first exchange in the world to commit to Net Zero. On the role of stock exchanges in the green economy, Julia Hoggett, CEO, LSE plc has stated in a recent podcast that "the only way we get to net zero and stay there is if the entirety of the economy moves on a global basis.”
Additionally, our Group Head of Capital Markets at LSEG Murray Roos discusses the development of digitisation in capital markets and LSE’s launch of Voluntary Carbon Market, in a recent interview on real vision finance.
