Supporting our clients as they come to market is a core part of what we do at London Stock Exchange. Our team will work with you to create a warm and welcoming experience, with multiple opportunities for you to raise the profile of your brand internationally.
Celebrate your admission with a Market Ceremony
Joining one of London Stock Exchange’s markets can be one of the most important days of a company's journey. To mark the event, companies and issuers are invited to 'Open or Close the Market' each day at 08:00 and 16:30 at London Stock Exchange Group's headquarters in Paternoster Square.
Historically, a bell marked the beginning of the trading day on London Stock Exchange's trading floor. In 1986, the deregulation of the market and dissolution of the trading floor saw an end to this long-standing tradition. However, in 2011, London Stock Exchange launched a new installation to revive this celebrated ceremony. In October 2019, the Market Close ceremony was introduced marking the end of the day’s trading. Since then, new companies, issuers and member firms have joined charities and leading public figures in participating in this unique event, marking the start and end of trading on the world's most international market.
The installation is one of the largest of its type in the world. Over 500 high-definition LED screens, a giant central illuminated cube and a bespoke ‘Market Ceremony’ mechanism make up the three-story installation, where market movement and prices are displayed throughout the day using real-time data.
Companies are hosted by a senior representative of London Stock Exchange Group and invite their guests to join them for a reception after the Ceremony. Leading company representatives will receive a unique memento of the day – an engraved glass tablet which is used to launch the Market Ceremony itself.
Raising your profile digitally
Following the Market Ceremony we will create a bespoke film for you, which you can use in your own marketing activities.
Your story will be profiled on London Stock Exchange’s LinkedIn and Twitter channels on the day of the market ceremony and a ‘Welcome Story’ (a write-up of the Market Ceremony with your market open/ market close film), will be posted on our site www.londonstockexchange.com, which receives millions of visitors every month.
We also frequently share details of recent transactions and new issuers via our industry newsletters and market updates, giving your brand extra visibility.
Market Ceremonies offer participants a high-profile platform on which to launch a media campaign or to raise the profile of a company listing or corporate event.
We support the press activity of issuers by providing a quote from a representative of London Stock Exchange’s leadership team.
Members of the press can also be invited to attend the ceremony and conduct interviews with guests. A live TV feed can be arranged, and our high-specification studio facilities can be made available for media interviews.
Virtual Market ceremony in 2021
Under the current circumstances, we have moved to a virtual Market Ceremony, welcoming issuers to the market via a digital event, with the opportunity for the issuer to record and include a personal message from their CEO/Chair, alongside a message from a senior representative from London Stock Exchange. This has allowed us to offer clients the same level of visibility through our digital and social media channels as we could in a ‘business as usual’ environment.
We look forward to welcoming your business soon.
