The London Stock Exchange is holding its annual ETF Seminar on 8th October 2010 which will be chaired by Anthony Hilton of the Evening Standard. HSBC launch the HSBC MSCI Brazil ETF on the London Stock Exchange.

1/7/2010 – RBS launch new range of ETFs

New UK ETF Issuer: RBS launches a new range of Exchange Traded Funds on the London Stock Exchange, offering UK investors access to a range of specialist opportunities in emerging markets and commodity indices. The six products listed are the Market Access DAXglobal BRIC Index Fund; the Market Access DAXglobal Asia Index Fund; the Market Access NYSE Arca Gold BUGS Index Fund; the Market Access Jim Rogers International Commodity Index Fund and the Market Access RICI-M Index Fund.

28/6/2010 – Osmosis launch two additional currency lines of ETFs

Two existing ETFs are now available to trade in additional currencies. The Osmosis Climate Solutions ETF is now tradable in GBP (OSCP) and the  HSBC S&P 500 ETF is now available to trade in USD (HSPD).

Lyxor launches its S&P 500 ETF alongside the Lyxor ETF S&P ASX 200 and the Lyxor ETF S&P TSX 60, respectively providing exposure to the Australian and Canadian benchmarkets.

17/5/2010 – db x-tracker launch new ETFs

db x-trackers launches the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Developed Europe Real Estate ETF, the FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Eurozone Real Estate ETF,  the MSCI Mexico Total Return Index ETF and the db x-trackers S&P 500 ETF. HSBC launches the HSBC S&P 500 ETF.

10/5/2010 – db x-tracker launch eight new ETFs

db x-trackers launches 8 new ETFs including LevDAX and ShortDAX x2 ETFs, FTSE100 Leveraged ETF, S&P 500 2x Inverse Index and 2x Leveraged Index ETFs and Euro STOXX 50 Double Short and Leveraged ETFs.  Also admitted was the MSCI Canada Total Return Index ETF.

HSBC launch its latest ETF on the London Stock Exchange - the HSBC FTSE 250 ETF.

24/3/2010 – HSBC launch new ETF

HSBC launches MSCI Japan ETF, which replicates the MSCI Japan index.

18/3/2010 – ETF Securities launch new ETF

ETF Securities admit the DJ-UBS All Commodities 3 mth forward product to trading on the London Stock Exchange.

1/3/2010 – MW Indices launch new ETF

MW Indices PLC launch the MW TOPS Global Alpha ETF, providing access to selected Marshall Wace TOPS (Trade Optimised Portfolio System) strategies. The TOPS ETF is tradable in GBX, EUR and USD.

08/02/2010 – New Issuer Osmosis launch flagship ETF on the London Stock Exchange

New issuer Osmosis Investment Management launch their flagship Climate Solutions ETF on the London Stock Exchange, which tracks the Osmosis Climate Solutions Index. The index comprises 100 globally listed companies which derive 50+% of their revenues from products or services focused on the efficient use of natural resources and the migration of climate change.

Lyxor admits a new ETF based on the MSCI Asia APEX 50 index, and 3 additional ETFs based on the FTSE 100, FTSE 250 and FTSE All Share structured as Luxembourg SICAVs.

06/10/2009 – HSBC launch new ETF

HSBC launches a second ETF on the London Stock Exchange based on the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50 Index.

28/09/2009 – iShares launch 9 new ETFs

iShares launch 9 new ETFs on the London Stock Exchange; iShares MSCI Europe (Acc); iShares MSCI World (Acc); iShares MSCI Emerging Markets (Acc); iShares MSCI Japan (Acc); iShares S&P 500 (Acc); iShares Barclays Euro Corporate Bond Ex-Finance; ishares Barclays Euro Corporate Bond Ex Financials 1-5; iShares Barclays Euro Corporate Bond 1-5; iShares iBOXX £ Corporate Bond Ex-Financials.

07/09/2009 - Source becomes the latest issuer to admit ETFs to trading in London.

HSBC have launched their first ETF products in the UK - the FTSE 100 Source ETF and the FTSE 250 Source ETF. This is the first step for Source into the UK ETF market, and follows on from the launch of their Physical Gold ETC in London in June 2009.

25/08/2009 - HSBC enters the European ETF market place

HSBC listed it's 'HSBC FTSE 100 ETF' on the London Stock Exchange today. The launch demonstrates the group’s ambitions to become a leader in the European Exchange Traded Funds market. In the coming months, HSBC plans to launch further ETFs on the LSE as it builds a comprehensive range for all types of investor.

x-trackers becomes the first ETF issuer to use the EEA-listing admission route

db x-trackers has admitted to trading 3 ETFs using the EEA-listing admission route. This admission route, introduced in September 2008, allows ETF issuers choice in how to access the London market, by allowing them to admit funds to trading based on a listing in another EEA jurisdiction. All funds are still required to be UCITS compliant, and admitted to a regulated market, but there is no requirement to obtain an additional listing through the UKLA.

22/06/09 - ETF Securities launches Europe’s first complete platform of double leveraged (2x) and double short (-2x) ETFs tracking Europe’s main equity indices

8 new ETFs tracking 2x short and 2x leveraged versions of Europe’s main equity indices: Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50®, FTSE 100®, CAC 40® and DAX® . ETF securities will be holding a launch presentation for institutional investors on long and short trading strategies using ETFs and ETCs on the 8 July 2009,

5/6/09 -London Stock Exchange press release

May was a very strong month for ETF and ETC trading across the Group’s order books, reaching a new record total of 269,197 trades. The average daily number of trades more than doubled, up 115 per cent year on year to 13,607, and the average daily value traded increased by 71 per cent year on year to £371.3 million (€419.8 million). The total value traded during the month was £7.3 billion (€8.2 billion).

07/05/09 – London Stock Exchange press release

Growth in ETF and ETC trading across the two exchanges’ order books continued to be very strong, with the average daily number of trades up 117 per cent year on year to 12,464, and the average daily value traded up 68 per cent to £343.3 million (€384.3 million). This strong growth was supported by a record number of trades on ETF Plus, the Italian ETF market, which saw an average 9,618 trades daily in ETFs and ETCs during the month.

20/04/09 – iShares lunch new ETFs

iShares launch seven new ETFs on the London Stock Exchange; iShares MSCI Pacific ex-Japan; iShares MSCI Europe ex-EMU; iShares FTSE Developed World ex-UK; iShares Barclays Government Bond 5-7; iShares Barclays Government Bond 10-15; iShares Barclays Euro Treasury Bond and iShares FTSE Gilts UK 0-5.

20/3/09 – iShares launch new ETFs

iShares launches new ETF on MSCI GCC Countries ex. Saudia Arabia Index.  This new ETF allows investors to gain exposure to the equity markets of UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.  The ETF will be available in two currency lines - Sterling (quoted in pence) and US dollars.
