The London Stock Exchange is a premier source of high quality UK corporate action information.
Our Corporate Action products cover London-listed instruments, including SETSqx, AIM, IOB and Registered Bonds. We cover around 50 corporate action types ranging from cash dividends to rights issues and complex company schemes. We deliver this online through the Corporate Events Diary (CED) and data feeds tailored to your requirements.
Corporate Events Diary
The CED is an online calendar tool, designed to provide a single point to access diarised corporate action events. As well as enabling subscribers to process information more effectively, the CED also helps avoid expensive repercussions that stem from missing or misinterpreting a corporate action.
- Business critical information from source
One of the CED’s key strengths is its ability to deliver a more detailed analysis than automated systems, chiefly through Stock Situation Notices (SSNs). It is especially useful for complex corporate actions which STP – (Straight Through Processing) cannot easily process.
Exclusive to the Exchange, SSNs are prepared daily by our experienced team of analysts and regularly updated. SSNs have been created by the Exchange for over 30 years – they summarise critical corporate action information from source in a clear and concise format within hours of announcement. SSNs cover:
- security identifiers and descriptions
- corporate action terms
- critical dates and settlement information.
The CED also helps subscribers track the 5,000 (approx) dividends announced each year through the accurate provision of:
- ex, record and pay dates
- dividend values and descriptions.
Corporate Events Diary Plus
We also offer an upgraded Corporate Events Diary (CED) to subscribers. It will continue to provide the key dividend data and SSNs that our customers have come to expect but now with enhanced functionality. Additional features include portfolio feeds and email alerts.
CED Plus takes the benefits of the Corporate Events Diary and combines them with new features to give even clearer, more tailored information, enabling users to save both time and costs.
Email alerts – users can opt to receive email alerts when:
- the last SSN has been published on the day
- the dividend and DRIP files have been uploaded
- viewing summaries of the forthcoming day’s events.
Portfolios – users can filter the information they receive by choosing to focus on a particular sector, FTSE index or their own portfolio of stocks.
Downloads – SSNs can be downloaded in MS Word.
ISO15022 Corporate Actions Service
We also supply Corporate Actions in the ISO15022 MT564 message format either by SWIFT or FTP delivery, as well as in a flat file format.
The product delivers UK corporate actions in near real-time throughout the operational day over the SWIFT network, using the MT564 Corporate Actions Notification messages.
This product has been developed in-line with the UK Corporate Actions and SWIFT Data Vendor market practice guidelines. We are also delighted to announce we were the first Stock Exchange to supply centrally sourced corporate actions in near real-time over SWIFT. This development will help move the UK market closer towards the automation of corporate actions.
We have invested in the technologies to support ISO15022 messages utilising functionality our award winning SEDOL Masterfile database provides. However, assisting the industry in the effective processing of corporate actions is not something that just happens over night. This is demonstrated by the fact that the experience that we have in formulating and delivering corporate actions data has been the result of over 20 years of activity in this area.
Corporate Action Event Reference (COAF)
Additionally, we will commence allocation of the Official Corporate Action Event Reference (COAF) after being appointed by the National Market Practice Group as best placed to provide COAF for the UK Market
COAF is the official and unique reference assigned by an appointed entity within each national market at the beginning of a corporate action event. The COAF is globally adopted as the standard for corporate action identification and provides recognition that we are considered the primary source of UK corporate actions data.
