Appointment of non-executive director
Stagecoach Group plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Gregor Alexander as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 April 2013.
Gregor Alexander is the Finance Director of SSE plc (formerly Scottish and Southern Energy plc), one of the largest energy companies in the UK. At SSE, Gregor has Board-level responsibility for finance, human resources, IT, procurement and other group services. He is Chairman of Scotia Gas Networks, a company 50% owned by SSE plc.
Gregor has worked in the energy industry since 1990, when he joined Scottish Hydro Electric. He was appointed Finance Director and joined the board of SSE in 2002, having previously been Group Treasurer and Tax Manager.
Commenting on Gregor Alexander's appointment, Stagecoach Group Chairman, Sir George Mathewson, said: "Gregor's sound financial background and experience with SSE plc will further strengthen the board, and his insight will be valuable as we deliver on our strategy of sustainable growth."
Gregor will chair the Company's Audit Committee from 1 July 2013. As previously announced, the current chair of the Audit Committee, Garry Watts, will become the Company's Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 May 2013.
No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to Gregor's appointment as a director of the Company.
