                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 3 December 2012, the following ordinary shares
were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris Savings Related Share Option Scheme:

19,870 shares at 723 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 7,642,926 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 117,362,197.
