GETECH Agrees New Deal With Sierra Leone's Petroleum Directorate

[ 14 Aug 2017 10:19 ]

LONDON (Alliance News) - GETECH Group PLC on Monday said it has signed a new agreement to provide advisory and technical support services to the Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone, through its subsidiary ERCL Ltd.

ERCL has been with the Petroleum Directorate since last year, providing a long-term counterpart training programme for the directorate's technical team in Freetown, with initial funding from the World Bank's EITAP programme.

The new agreement focuses on building a national database to transform access to data and information needed by organisations in the petroleum sector to help them make their investment decisions.

To fast-track insight into the prospectivity of the region, ERCL will leverage its geoscience expertise and add value to the national database by developing a series of technical studies.

In its commitment to capacity building, ERCL will also continue to provide technical support, technology transfer and counterpart training to the Petroleum Directorate's technical team.

"Having visited the Petroleum Directorate offices and met its team, headed by Director General Raymond Kargbo, I am excited at the prospect of broadening our long-term relationships in Sierra Leone. Our government services team designs, manages and supports licence and bidding rounds for countries all over the world and we understand how to create an environment of benefit to both the government and investor," Chief Executive Jonathan Copus said.

Shares in GETECH were untraded on Monday at 28.25 pence.
