The London Stock Exchange has completed a four year trading system development project known as Technology Roadmap (TRM). Begun in 2003, TRM’s main objective was to introduce a next generation trading system for our Member Firms that would provide;
- more capacity
- less latency
- a reduction in the time and cost needed to roll out new services
The Exchange's new trading system, TradElect, launched in June 2007and delivers unprecedented levels of performance, reliability and scalability for the benefit of our internationally recognised markets.
TRM was phased-in over four key releases;
- Release 1 – enhancements to the Corporate Data Warehouse – completed in 2003
- Release 2 – migration of LMIL to Infolect® – completed September 2005
- Release 3 – migration of Internal Monitoring and Surveillance systems – in progress
- Release 4 – migration of the trading system to TradElect™
TradElect™
Release 4, the introduction of TradElect™ marked the final and most significant phase of the project and delivers a range of key functional and technical enhancements including;
- Increases the speed and efficiency of trading
- Provides the framework for the rapid development of new markets and asset classes
- Enhances the market structure to better support order routing, settlement and clearing
- Extends functionality for order handling, quote management and trade reporting
