Infolect

Infolect is the rebuilt, functionally enhanced replacement for the London Market Information Link (LMIL) and was introduced in to live production on 19 September 2005 as the primary source of the Exchange's real-time market data.

Infolect significantly improves the way in which we deliver our data directly to our customers, using new technologies to allow us to respond quickly to developments whilst providing customers with an improved service offering. This is achieved whilst continuing to provide superior breadth and depth of market data for companies trading in UK and international securities.

The next stage of the Infolect project is the introduction of a simplified data delivery structure, reducing the number of channels customers need to subscribe to in order to receive our data. The existing Broadcast Data Group structure has been rationalised in to “Service Channels” and aligned with the current data charging model.

The introduction of Service Channels is in direct response to customer feedback received during the consultation phase, and delivers what has been asked for by the vast majority of customers. The new model will deliver a number of customer benefits:

  • Reduced complexity of data delivery requiring less customer configuration
  • Consolidated data feeds - easier maintenance for customers
  • Clear alignment of data delivered and licences to reduce audit risk
  • Simplified order forms - easier for new customers and for existing customers to make changes to their data services

Please refer to the Introduction to Infolect - Service Channels document for full details of Service Channels.

Customers will be migrated from the existing BDG structure to Service Channels from November 2005 to Q2 2006. The Exchange is offering a number of different options for migrating to Service Channels, which are summarised in the document ‘Introduction to Infolect - Service Channel Migration Options’. BDGs are planned to be decommissioned early Q2 2006, following all customers being migrated to Service Channels.
