UK-REITs can only be listed on the Main Market. The key provisions for qualification as a UK-REIT are set out in Part 4 of the Finance Act 2006. These include a requirement for the company’s ordinary share capital to be listed on a recognised stock exchange.
The UKLA is currently consulting on proposed revisions to its Listing Rules for investment entities, with the aim of simplifying and modernising the existing listing regime. This exercise will take into account the introduction of UK-REITs in January 2007, by ensuring that the new rules complement the legislation.
