In 2005, Intellect (the trade association for the UK hi-tech industry) established a project to develop a framework for measuring progress towards developing the knowledge-based economy. The FTSE techMARK indices provide an important measure of growth and comparison for the more mature innovative companies, and techMARK supports the efforts of Intellect to produce wide industry measures. The London Edge Initiative: Life Sciences and techMARK mediscience
Communicating to the right investors in the most effective way is especially crucial to innovative companies in the healthcare sectors. The 29th and 30th June 2006 sees the Exchange launch the London Edge Initiative, a series of themed events the purpose of which is to bring specialist investors, quoted and pre-IPO companies together in a highly effective environment.
The first event, themed 'Life Sciences' is in part intended to showcase techMARK mediscience as the pinnacle of achievement for public companies in the healthcare arena. The Initiative which will include an international perspective covers two days, one providing 'grooming for IPO' advice and the other a chance to put that knowledge into practice through structured meetings with specialist investors.
