Differences between Level 1 and Level 2 data
The Level 1 information is only a simple information display and fails to show how the prices are formed and what activity is happening behind the scenes.
Level 2 data on the other hand provides the full ‘depth’ of the markets. On Level 2 SEAQ, the display shows all the Market Makers information including their individual best bid/offer prices as well as the dealing size. Level 2 SETS screens show the full depth of the order book including all outstanding limit buy and sell orders with the price and quantity alongside.
